Our History

In Motion Therapy was founded in 1994 as In Motion Hand Therapy by Gary Krabbe OT, CHT. As his business grew Gary began to recognize the need for a broader range of specialty therapy services in Montrose, CO. He put his plans in motion and from 2006 to 2011 In Motion Therapy gained an additional 7,000 square feet, an indoor heated therapy pool and a specialized sports rehabilitation area. In 2018 IMT’s founder Gary Krabbe passed away. But not before he took his own advice to “live a legacy”. His vision is forever captured in the establishment and ongoing operations of IMT. In late 2018, In Motion Therapy was purchased by Krabbe’s friends, Martin and Lori Lutz, with the intent to continue as an independent private practice, focused on the provision of the highest quality therapy services.

Public outreach and active participation in our community has always been a key feature of the In Motion Therapy business model and is evident in the In Motion Engaged program focus.  Employees of IMT are encouraged to volunteer for community service projects and currently represent Montrose on three community Board of Directors. In Motion Therapy is also a teaching clinic. During the school year, In Motion Therapy hosts many students from the Montrose High School career options seminar program, promoting career development and helping students explore career options. IMT hosts many Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy doctorate and assistant students as a clinical location for schools all over the country. In Motion is also the yearly host for sports physicals where local healthcare practitioners volunteer to give the most comprehensive physicals. 100% of the proceeds are donated to the HS sports medicine programs.  IMT’s annual Orthopedic Symposium supports the continuing education of local therapists keeping the bar high for quality care.

Today, In Motion Therapy is 95 percent doctor referral based. It offers full-range physical therapy and rehabilitation services, including aquatic therapy and Dry Needling. Patients of all ages are welcomed from all over the Uncompahgre Valley, as well as from Telluride and Grand Junction.

In Motion Therapy is a very professional, friendly place. I have been there a few times for various therapy needs. They are both knowledgeable and caring. Troy and Amy have helped be tremendously. I would recommend them to anyone needing physical therapy. I wouldn't go any where else.

Unfortunately (?) I’ve had to be a client for several different things through the years. (Who really wants to be injured enough for PT?)Julia is my favorite therapist though. Tesse is also great. Every therapist I’ve ever had has been knowledgeable and cooperative. They’ve all helped me attain strength and greater range of motion. Everyone also took great care of my dad, and he was able to stay out of a nursing home, thanks in part to the therapy he received at In Motion. I’m very grateful to all of them for the care we’ve received. There is one person though, that does not take very good care of customers. Her name is Donna and I believe she’s responsible for scheduling and greeting patients. Several times I’ve seen her on her phone, while I was standing at the desk, waiting to check in. She’s called me to schedule my appointments and she’s just curt. She’s rude and for some strange reason, it’s like she’s angry with me. That I know of, I’ve never done anything to her. I’ve worked in the customer service field for 30+ years. Her demeanor is, hands down, some of the worst I’ve ever encountered. I hope she’ll find a way to communicate with customers that isn’t so angry. I actually feel sorry for her.As I’ve said though, everyone else there is awesome. I won’t let Donna’s attitude dissuade me from finishing my therapy, or from saying great things about everyone else there. 😊👍🏼😊
